browsing c7 general...
over the last week I had been curious about the GS and ventured over to the site to see pics, prices and read about the features.
whoa, I started looking at all the deals from the top 2 dealers on the 2016 and the Z06 and GS prices and I am hooked. wish I had never ventured over there.
I am now thinking about putting ~ $30000 down on a GS Z06 this time next year. should be able to get the Z06 ~$70k by then. I gotta stay away from that forum cause i'm getting the itch.

At age 65, that's simply not financially wise for me.
Plus, I'm damned thrilled to have what I have:
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Interestingly enough, I saw a C7 and C6 GS (both silver) during the course of the afternoon and ended up parking behind them. I forget just how good the C6 looks sometimes.
So me and a buddy went to a local dealer in Saco that had 3 new C7's on the lot: a base coupe, a base vert and a Z06 vert. My buddy knew the owner pretty well so they let me drive what I wanted to drive.
I drove the base vert for a good while including interstate and local roads. First, I loved the vert feel. But my seat-of-the-pants dyno couldn't feel any difference between my base '05 C6 and the '16. from a rolling start, go WOT. The '16 and my '05 felt exactly the same. My '05 rode much smoother than any of the '16's. I have brand new non-RF Hankooks.
Then I drove the Z06. Oh my God... I decided to keep it on the lot and run it up the lanes a few times. But someone before me had shifted the mode selector to 'track'. When we got in it, the salesman kept saying "punch it, punch it". So I did - in a second we were sideways.
That was exciting! One thing the C7 driving experience taught me was that I really like my C6. I joked with the owner that of the 4 vetts on his lot, mine was the prettiest. Mine is mag red metallic. He didn't disagree.
Another thing about the C7's in general - the color choices suck. The basic blue (laguna blue?) and bright red looks like matchbox car colors. There are some new colors just released but I haven't seen them.
So the bottom line was a trade difference of about $40K for the vert and $75K for the Z06. $40K for a drop top and a warranty? Not likely.

I don't care much for the color choices either. I like the DSOM and Long beach red but that's about it.
I agree that the C6 reds are some of the nicest colors out there.
If I sell off my Harley and C6, There would not be much difference in price moving to the C7. I'm still debating whether or not I want to continue to ride. If I decide to sell the bike, I imagine I will also sell the C6 and buy a C7 vert.
