I have been thinking of trading in my 2010 Callaway Grand Sport for a 2011 Jaguar XKR. The reason being is that I also own a 2002 supercharged ZO6 and I was looking for something a little bit more luxurious and there is not a lot of choices that fits that description. Not into Porsches and a Mustang forget it. Not a BMW lover either. I know I have a rare Grand Sport but being 60 years old just looking for something a little more comfortable and it still has 500 plus horsepower. I don't drive the car that often Maybe 12 - 1500 miles a year. The Jag has 49,000 miles on it and the Callaway has 17000 miles. Not looking for an even flip. Maybe between three and four thousand dollars my way. Again am I crazy.
Why would you keep in inferior VETTE over that CALLAWAY? There is nothing about any c5 that is better then a c6,especially a CALLAWAY. Keep that and dump the c5.
Agree. Only if it's the F Type R. And even still....be prepared for no DIY, very few mods available, in the shop for repairs frequently and if you're out of warranty, good luck with the price of those repairs.
Regular maintenance is also very expensive. Figure 5x or more the cost of your GS. Trust me, all my wife drives are new Jaguars, I've had many, and buying one is the cheapest part.

yes you are.have you had a stroke or any other issues lately?sorry to hear about your condition
I had an XKR, still own two other Jaguars, an XJ and my wife's XJR. I've owned over a dozen Jags since 1995.
XKRs are nice cars, not that fast in sports car speak unless it's an RS. Luxury cruiser, yes. I got bored and went from it to my present Vette.
All said above about no mods, little available is true...you're reduced to wheel options. Any negative said about reliability is untrue.
I had a convertible, most of them are verts. If I did it again, I'd insist on a coupe. They're more rare and better looking.
I have had many cars by many manufactures and I love my Jags. I sold an XF when I bought this current C6. I missed it enough that I bought a replacement XF this week. I have had multiple XK/XKR but unlike BlindSpot, mine have been coupes. They have been reliable, comfortable, and classy. I get as many compliments on them as I do on the Vettes, and valet drivers seem to be more respectful of them. In my opinion, since you have two Vettes and can afford to do so, have one of each because they are completely different vehicles. I had a Cadillac XLR for a while hoping it was a Corvette with a bit more luxury...which it was. I LOVED the hard top convertible on it, but it just did not have the performance to go with the looks.
On a completely different note, I recently drove a F-Type R and OMG! That was an amazing vehicle...and I WILL have one one day, but they are very proud of those beasts. ($103k)
Sounds like you have located a nice XKR. If you get it, you might find yourself driving it more than then the Vette. While I love the edge of the seat performance, the majority of the time I sit in traffic and cannot enjoy the performance....at those times I prefer the distinguished comfort.
Thanks guys for all your input but Al_Jazz is spot-on about the Jags. The Jags have been a lot more reliable than they have been in the past. And it's not going to be a daily driver. As far as the C5 ZO6 being an inferior car to the C6 Callaway I beg to differ a little bit. Yes I agree it is a lesser car but by no means inferior. If we were talking about a c4 I would say definitely yes. But I appreciate all the input you guys have given me and I am still on the fence about my decision.
I echo the CTS-V recommendations. I owned a 2012 CTS-V and it was a rocket ship with all the amenities. Ran like a rapes ape when you wanted it to, but butter smooth and quiet as a a mouse fart inside. Only complaint I Had with the car is it burned gas like it had a hole in the tank. But then again, I liked to push the go fast pedal too so...
