Will Service Active Handling throw codes when turned off??
So I added the orange clip fix to my 2006 today to correct problems with the Active Handling. My car was recalled a couple of years ago and I could see today the Tech had done the zip-tie fix. I was glad to see there was no orange clip in the relevant connector because my car had been throwing the SAH code as of late.
I had been foolishly ignoring the trouble message for few weeks, and the other day the system intervened while I was driving - luckily at a slow speed.
Did some research, discovered the orange clip fix, bought and installed it today.
I would like to drive the car for a period of time to assess this latest fix, and am wondering if the system will throw a code even if I disable it. May sound like a dumb question, but it would be nice to drive it without the fear of an intervention, but still being able to see if codes pop up. That intervention was a little unnerving and would not want to experience one at speed.
It's an interesting question and concept...I don't know but someone on here will. Did you pull the connector apart and inspect the pins and clean them before installing the infamous orange clip?

Hi cclive - yes i did. I have to say the tech who did the recall seemed to do a nice job. They were clean and he had applied dielectric grease. It's just that the zip-tie was really a make shift repair. The comb style clip will press the pins into their sockets much more securely. I am hoping this is the final fix...
BTW - does anyone here know if Chevy fixed this on newer cars? I have a buddy with a newer Grand Sport who is now wondering about his car...
