I'm not sure about the free download site, but I'm assuming that someone has the ISO file available on a server. If so, what year is it from. You would still need to download it onto a Dual layer DVD to use it in your Nav unit.
The other option is to buy the 2016 version (1 DVD) from GM Nav division for approx $200.00. I do have the 2016 version, and roads built in or before 2013 are on the new update including more restaurants and hotels etc for the points of Interest.
Unfortunately, I gave away my 2013 version.
What year is your car? If it's a 2005-2007, GM did offer 2 free updates for those years. If they have never been used, You may get a free updated Nav DVD. just e-mail GM Nav division with the Vin # . You may be surprised. I got the 2013 version for free because my updates had never been used from the first owner.
It never hurts to ask.
