Another battery-starting issue.
This has happened 2-3 times since I bought the car in May.
1st time, car sat over night (I use as a DD). I get in car, press the start button and get a click and car won't start. DIC starts displaying messages about which systems are unavailable or disabled. I don't remember exactly as this happened back in June.
I was able to get the hood open and attach a jump box to the battery. It started right up but I did have to index the windows. Battery volts was 13.5
Happened again this morning. After a drive to work, about 20 miles I park, shut off engine and am waiting to meet up with another worker. After about 10 min of waiting, I try to start the car again to run the AC while I'm waiting. I press the start button and get nothing except a click. I press "off" and try again, I get a clip but the dash lights up and I get a click. I hook up the jump box and it starts right up as if nothing happened.
I check battery volts and = 13.5
Any ideas as to the problem?

You have a weak cell in the battery is my guess. Our cars are extremely finicky about voltage. I always get a new battery at first signs of trouble.

that or my fob battery was weak and it was doing some weird stuff but it never said FOB not detected. put a battery in the fob and i was good to go. this doesnt sound probable since a jump box helped you. go have your battery load tested would be my suggestion.

Yeah, thanks. Car is CPO so I have 12 month bumper to bumper. Trip to the dealer is in order.

You also need to understand that the battery voltage is never 13.5...that's the system voltage being supplied by the alternator when the engine is running. If the engine were not running, the battery voltage itself would be somewhere around 12.8 at the most. I'm betting on an intermittent connection at the battery, starter solenoid or a relay in the starting circuit. Unless the DIC says NO FOB DETECTED, this is likely not an issue involving the fob or its' battery.

Well on the way home after work, it started right up. I drive about 20 miles home and make a stop at a local store, come out, attempt to start the car and it's dead.
Jumped it again, got home, let it sit a couple hour, just went out to start it and it's fine. starts up normal. Wtf?

Some have had a bad connection at the starter solenoid.
Easiest to have the battery load checked at an auto store. Most will do it free if charge while it is in the car.

theres no obvious battery terminal corrosion is there? i would imagine you would have seen that but i've had this happen when corrosion gets bad enough it opens the gap and you lose connection. I'd load test battery it takes 5 mins at parts store and most can do it in the car, you'd have an answer in less time it takes to read these posts.

I just went through this exact issue with another one of my cars. Drive the car for a bit, come back out and nothing. It was the battery. It must have had an internal problem and sometimes it was connected and sometimes not. New battery solved the problem.

Been there done that
Battery. Change the battery and it will be fixed. Dealer should be able to test it. I've been through this twice now. These cars eat batteries.
