He did not give me a VIS report, only the build sheet.

As you see it says order #KPGVSH Dealer # 31111 Delivered to
General Motors Corporation
7133 Eleven Mile Road
Warren, Mi 48092-2709

The strange part to me is that it went to GM for 7 months then it went to Auction. A Dealer Lavery Automotive in Alliance Ohio bought it and apparently kept it for almost 8 years? They finally sold it in July 15 and it was sold to a guy I corresponded with. He had it for a year and put less than 600 miles on it. He said that He sold it because it was just collecting dust in His garage.

When a manufacturer changes something in the process (new supplier, production equipment changes, design changes, etc.) the first run is called a "pilot run" to work out any problems that may arise. It is kind of like a final validation of all the QC testing done in development. With all the changes made to the 08 model GM would have wanted to ensure that everything looked/worked as good coming off the line as it did in the engineering labs. Cool car.

This was a old thread that I can now respond to. The NPP is not on the Window Sticker but it is on the BUILD SHEET along with FE3 Sport suspension, J55 Heavy duty power brakes, 3LT Preferred Equipment group, U#U Navigation.

I have to disagree the Dual mode exhaust is on my window sticker I have the magnetic ride control is too which includes the larger cross drilled rotors which is on the widow sticker, it doesnt use the codes like on the build sheet J55 for the brakes and NPP for the exhaust on the build sheet FE2 for suspension F55 for the shocks

A long time later for a reply but I did fix the NPP. The solenoid was bad! I just responded to another request on this post and after 15 minutes of two finger typing I lost the message. I will make it shorter.
I have that car for sale, GM had the car from 4-17-2007 to 11-15-2007 in which time they put 14,908 miles on it. They replace the half shafts. It went from auction in Michigan and the trail gets foggy but the car was in Ohio until 6-30-2015 and was sold to a guy in Pennsylvania with 52,780. The Pennsylvania owner put 645 miles on it and had it serviced twice, oil change, coolant flush, brake service.
I have now had it a year and have put 1341 miles on it. It is up for sale for a couple of reasons. Top down driving is out, my wife cannot be in the sun and I have allergies. Reason two is that this is a low VIN car that should appreciate in value and I am not getting any younger!
If it does not sell, it still has a good home with me!

I hate to disabuse you, but the low VIN and Pilot car status is nothing special as these are produced every model year. Pilot cars are simply early cars that are basically used to assess ride and drive pre model year release. They sometimes go to executives to drive as well.

Regardless, it appears to be a nice car. Good luck with the sale.

I know that, every year has a 6th car that was assigned a VIN or as in the olden days a serial number. If I understand the Hobby, Collectors look for the early models and the best equipped ones. This car is a early 08 and it is well equipped. It may take 20 years but just as it did with the sixties models, they will go up in value! I had a 67 Convertible that I sold for $5400 in 77. Ten years later a Guy paid $50,000 for it!

The car is a 10+ year old c6 with 55k miles. '67 vs '08 is like comparing apples and kumquats. The '67 was the final year of a 5 year run. The '08 is (nearly) a mid-model of a 13 year run. Will the low vin appreciate in 20 years? Who knows. My guess? It will always be worth a little more than a mid-vin comparable vette.
Just sayin...

Doesn't work that way with the later model Vettes in general, especially mid-life of the generation.

My '96 Grand Sport was a Pilot car and while it commanded a premium when I sold it 15 years later for being a GS, being the 7th of 1000 made did zip for the sale price.

If it was an early 2009 ZR-1, maaaaybe an early '06 ZO6, I could see someone paying more for the first of the breed. Base car, even well equipped is just another C6.

If you are anywhere near my age, we will never know what the future brings? My brother in law was a collector as was His father before Him. They paid thousands for very old cars and some not that old> Who knows?

While I can appreciate your thinking, it just doesn't apply to the younger generation of today. In 20 years our cars will be just that, 20 years older than they are now with no significant value. I've had this conversation with younger kids and younger adults. I wish what you are thinking was true. My Vette is the exact same colors as yours.
