I just bought a c6 shifter from a friend. It doesnt have the ****. Are there differences in any of the c6 ***** or are they all the same over the years? Just looking to get one and it looks like there may be a difference from 05/07 to 08+. TIA for any help.

Yes the 05-07 have a different type of base and set screw than the 08-13. What year shifter do you have?

Could be wrong, but looks like the 05-07 style.

I could be wrong but I don't think the internals changed, just the boot (the top) and the ****.

I'll be reusing my c5 shift boot anyway. I'll post some better pics of the shifter when I get a free minute. I'll see if I can locate pictures online of the different model years shaft and see if there is a noticeable difference. Thanks for the ongoing input.

Do these pics help anyone to identify the year it came from? I'm kinda leaning toward 05/07?

I can tell you that your picture is NOT of a 2006 shifter. I compared it to my old stock shifter and the screw hole in your shifter is located higher on the rod than mine. Everything else looks the same.

Yep, early C6 shifter hand the bolt channel for the **** right after the bend part.

With the bolt channel higher, its for a late model shifter **** and will use the late model **** on the right, as well as the shifter boot that has the top ring to snap into the late model *****.

Not this type boot, which is for the early model ***** to snap into the annular groove isntead.

Now having said this, you can use a early model **** and boot with the late model shifter, but will end up with the **** being about a 1/4" higher on the shaft than normal isntead. This will make the shifts longer, as well as add in the amount of slop on the OEM shifter too.

Ok, so I am looking for an early c6 shift **** then. Thank you gentlemen. I'll see whats out there. If they are too expensive I'll just thread the damn thing and put my black C5 cue ball on it and be done.

So I ended up threading the thing and used my C5 ball. And the boot slipped over fine like it was meant for it. I love it!!!
