Default GMPP Question

Hello everyone,

Have a very specific question concerning the GMPP...

Can I apply for/purchase a GMPP on a used corvette? I'm in the market for a used C6 Z06, 2009-13 and would like to ensure that i'm covered for the long haul, considering that most of the warranties will have ended by now.

Does it have to be purchased through a Chevrolet dealer? Or can I purchase the GMPP from any dealership? I've been reading that you have to purchase the GMPP before you drive the car off the lot in order for it to work out. I'm hoping there isn't an age limit to coverage.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Nick

I bought an 06 in 09 just before the factory warranty ran out. I actually shopped the warranty on E Bay and the Corvette Forum vendors. I bought it from a dealership in a Boston suburb for 5 yrs and 50000 extended miles. Never used it. Felt like I got my money s worth just
from the reasurrance that I was covered if I had a major failure.
Others will argue to bank the money for future needs.
Each to their own.

Thanks for the reply. But you bought it JUST before the warranty, and I'm assuming most, if not all, will no longer be covered by the factory warranty.

How'd you shop the warranty on e bay? I'm thinking I could easily find a vendor on here who'd offer me something reasonable. I'm still a little confused on whether they'd offer a warranty ONLY if it came from a Chevrolet dealership vice a private seller/dealership.

And yes, I definitely want to have that reassurance that I'm covered regardless of what happens.

Thanks for the input.

First, I'm one of the proponents of just start your own savings account to cover anything an extended warranty (insurance policy) might cover. As said, to each their own.

There are limitations to GMPP as to age. Things changed some when GM stopped handling it and it went to Ally. It used to be, you could get coverage on a car that was out of factory warranty but the car had to be inspected by a GM dealer. I don't know if that is still available.

We could offer lots of "it used to be" scenarios but I think it would be best if you contacted one of our long time vendors, Ken Ficthtner. He has offered the best prices during all of the C6 years and now offers generally the best prices for C7's.

Here's his most recent thread for contact info:

Check w/ Ken: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...to-august.html

'GMPP" is owned by Allie, GMEPP's now owned by GM. You want GMEPP, if possible.
FWIW: any GM vehicle w/ <120K or <10 years old qualify whether it was purchased from a GM dealer or not.

Many of us have GMEPP's & purchased 'em from Ken via email.
