Anyone else having problems with there window regulators? I realize my Vette is 11 years old, but my driver's side regulator bound up about 6 months ago, and last week, my passengers side bound up. Is this a common problem on C6s? I've had an 89 before this, and a 93 before that, and never had a problem with power windows. Of course, the Dealerships want about $750.00 each for them, plus installation.
It would be nice if someone could rebuild these units for a reasonable price. Motors are fine, just stranded wire apparently breaks, and gets bound up in spool. I believe all C6 's use the same regulator. Would be a good business for someone with the ability to rebuild these units.
What do you think?
I had to replace my passenger regulator due to the stranded wire cable getting frayed and bound up in the mechanism.
I have a spare driver side regulator, but that one has not giving me any problems.
I may sell it down the road for much less than the dealer cost.
I had my passenger one replaced 4 years ago under my GMPP at that time and it would of been $1100 +.Good Luck
I know Amazon has them for around $300.00,but I was hoping someone rebuilds them. All that's needed is someone who has the talent to replace the stranded wire, and they could run an exchange program.
I wish I had that talent...lol

This just happened to me over the weekend lol. Was driving my car home Friday night and was riding with the window down. When I went to put the window back up I heard a strange noise (which ended up being the cable getting raveled up) and my window got stuck about halfway up. It would go down slowly but still get stuck, but wouldn't go back up at all.
Of course being from south Louisiana at this time of the year it rains everyday, so it started to rain so I was forced to cut the cables and then chock the window up with a piece of wood to hold it up in the meantime lol.
The cables were definitely frayed and that's what did it I assume.

That's what I'm talking about. Like it or not, it's going to happen to most all C6's. Need to know how to repair or a shop that does. We're talking between $1500 - $2000 to replace and install these regulators. Got to be a market for them.

Yea that's about the correct price I've gotten from everyone that had inquired a dealership about the fix (unless it was under warranty of course) I've heard from most people on here, and Mr Randy at Ragin Racin that the dealership charges about $750 a PIECE for just the regulator!!!
Everyone else that either did it themselves or brought to a trusted shop like I am doing, suggested that you can find the regulator from some vendors like GMpartsdirect for around 300 bucks. I brought my car to Mr Randy yesterday to replace both of my regulators, the bad drivers side and the working passenger side. The car is a 2005 so if one went out I'm sure the other is on its way out as well. It is something you can change yourself fairly easily, I just do not have the time or resources right now to be able to spend a day working on them. They do have a few write ups on how to change them out and some pictures.
Anything beats paying $1500 PLUS at a dealership IMO
