Clean them off and inspect them over the next few days. If they don't "leak" further then they probably splashed them with brake fluid or motor oil to trick you into buying new shocks.

It's an old trick.

If they continue to leak, then you need shocks. I wouldn't purchase the same shitty things that wore out.

Dealer will be selling on ebay "a set of nearly new MRC shocks, just 14K miles, bidding starts at $1000 for the set."

I'm going next week to my regular dealer to check them because the car drives just like the day I got it. No it doesn't bottom out and it st corners fine and no rattles. I just can't believe they would try to rip me off..

I just took my 2005 C6 Corvette into the Chevrolet dealer today for an oil change (I just bought the car from a member here last week). It has 33k miles on it. The dealership says the front and rear shock absorbers are "worn", and they want $1794 to replace the front, and $1920 to replace the rears. So $3714.00 total. I have no idea if they are being honest or not. But the car sure doesn't bounce or bottom out. I told them NO to replacing them for now until I can get a second opinion.

Funny how TSB states NO warranty for seepage yet after warranty period seepage is cause to replace:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2008 and 2009 model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-03-08-002A (Section 03 - Suspension).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide retail and wholesale service personnel with enhanced service policies for the above listed subject labor operations.

Service management should make certain that all dealership personnel responsible for replacement of suspension components are familiar with GM Service Manual procedures.

Effective with repair orders dated on or after January 15, 1998, the following must also be followed:

• Shock absorbers/strut assemblies are fluid-filled components and will normally exhibit seepage. Seepage is defined as oil film or dust accumulation on the exterior of the shock housing. Shock absorber/strut assemblies are not to be replaced under warranty for seepage.

Important: Electronically controlled shock absorbers (MR) may have a tendency to attract dust to this oil film. Often this film and dust can be wiped off and will not return until similar mileage is accumulated again.

• Defective shock absorber/strut assemblies will have a visible oil path or drip coming from the component. A visible oil path or drip coming from the shock absorber/strut assembly should be replaced as a defective component.

• Only defective shock absorber/strut assemblies should be replaced. Do not replace pairs unless both are defective, unless otherwise instructed in the Service Manual and/or Service Bulletin.

• Service management approval is required on the repair order for replacement of struts or shocks in pairs. This approval includes noting the reason for replacement.

It's time for you to find a new dealer that is honest.

You know, I wasn't sure. They also said, your oil pan gasket is leaking too, so we need to replace that, which is $900. They said "entire oil pan is wet with oil". Which of course, I have no oil on my garage floor.
