Despite what all the others have said, the C6 does have a longer wheelbase than many sports cars. My Nissan 300ZX/TT could easily do a U-turn on a residential street and was a hoot to autocross. Red feels like a school bus in comparison, having to nose into a curb, back away, then go forward again. On the freeway the longer wheelbase gives it better stability, and its supercharged horsepower becomes the dominant sensation.
Is it possible that the bigness you feel (probably when you first enter) is the interior width of the cabin? My '13 427 is about 56 inches (door panel to door panel) vs. 46" in a C3, and 48" in a C2. Your C6 probably looks as wide as a passenger car (and just may be). For comparison, the width of a queen-sized bed is 60" and you could probably curl up and sleep in that distance!

I only have trouble backing up due to limited visability and my rear window is tinted dark. Looking for a decent backup camera that does'nt go over my rearview mirror to resolve this. This car is pretty wide, but does not bother me in that regard.
I believe the C6 is the smallest corvette in length since the early C1s. lt is shorter than the modern 911 porshes and believe it was a design goal to be on par with the 911 in size.
That's interesting because I have always felt my C6 was huge compared to my C3 or C4s ... but the C6 is 2 inches shorter than the C4 (although its 2.5 inches wider).
Angle changes are more pronounced when moving at speed. That, coupled with the fact that you tend to look farther ahead the faster you move and the tendency for your brain to naturally steer toward whatever you're looking toward will cause any vehicle to feel smaller the faster you're moving.
I'm idly curious if any others share this experience.
When I back out of the garage with my C6, I feel like I'm backing an ocean liner. It seems huge. Ditto as I lumber down through my neighborhood rumbling through the stop signs until I hit a major street.
However, as soon as I get going more than a few mph, the car starts to shrink around me. I find this most pronounced when on a two lane back road practicing what the Germans call 'sporting driving. The car shrinks so much it's like it fits me, as they say, "like a glove".
Anybody else experience this sense of a car, when you get going, that you wear??
You should buy a boat. A boat will shrink in size the further you go into the ocean. However, when approaching your slip, the boat will increase in size 10 fold. If there is a boat next to you this sensation will be doubled.
When I 1st got the Z06, it felt WAaaaaay bigger than the Factory Five Cobra I had. (mainly because it is a lot bigger, lol)
Where I really notice it is squeezing it in to my small 1 car garage. Where I could easily walk all the way around the Cobra, I barely have room on one side of the Vette to get in & out.
