Default Which car will lose the less $, GS, Z06 or ZR1?

I'm in the market for a Corvette. I'm hesitating between a 2012 GS, a 2012 Z06 or a 2009 ZR1.

The 2012 GS is 4lt, 23,000km, 45k$can.
The 2012 Z06, 3lt, 10,000km, 60k$can.
The 2009 ZR1, 2lt, 45,000km, 70k$can.

In 3 or 4 years, which one will have lost the most value in $$$?

Personnally, I can easily see the GS going for 35k$. The Z06 for 50k$ but somehow I think the ZR1 could still be in the 60k$ making it the best purchase not only in terms of performance, but by also by minimizing my depreciation cost.

Opinion?

I think the ZR1. They have maintained their value even in the face of the C7, whereas the other two have taken a hit

The C6 ZR1 remains a fantasy car. All the others will eventually be just another used car.

Just remember. When you need brakes on the zr1 it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg. Lol.

Yep, and nothing like dropping $1300 per rotor for replacements to start with, and the fact that it will go through pads about twice as fast as Z51/Z06 HD pads. But will note, compared to some other exozic sports cars that use carbon rotors, the $1300 is a steal to begin with (imports cars that are running carbon rotors are over $2K each OEM instead).

The ZR1 will hold its' value the best of the three. It may or may not be the best car for you...depends on your use.

Sometimes I toss around the idea of a new Z06 or Grandsport; 1LT or 2LT without all the extra bells and whistles. When I look at the pricing, I could grab a new GS for around $65,000 and a Z for $78. While I'm thrilled about the cost of the used ZR1s coming down, I can't help but wonder why I would still pay mid to high 60's for a four or more year old car when I could have a new one for the same dough, or spend a bit more to have the new supercharged Vette.

I'm sure I"m not the only one considering this conundrum, so with this fact alone, I think the value of the ZR1 will be forced to come down in order to compete with the new offerings.

I doubt it. A new average equipped Z06 or GS today is 90k

I tend to agree with you, but i'm guessing its the ZR1 name coupled with the fact that they are rare especially when compared to the other models you mentioned. This only might keep the ZR1 prices up around 60k for a while longer

If you actually drive them, they will all lose value. and the value lost is usually a % of what they cost new.

The cheapest one to buy will lose the least amount in terms of dollars.

The ZR1 will lose less in % amount do to exclusivity but cost the most to maintain. And the actual dollar amount loss will be greater.

If you want to have a really fast SCed car, well the ZR1 might be a better deal because expensive mods is basically money thrown away.

Good luck.

You should do some shopping. There are some major discounts being given by dealers in many areas of the U.S. for both models....in fact, all the models.

If you have the cash, why not buy the car that suits your needs? Unless you are going to put it up on blocks to preserve it and wait 30 years for it to begin to appreciate, I would be looking for the one that provides the most enjoyment.
Do you want a removable top, for example? Do you plan on tracking the car? Is it just a status symbol for you?
If you plan on driving the car, there will be risk of traffic accidents, inconsiderate jerks that park too close along with a host of other unknowns that could reduce the value of the car while you own it. Buy it to enjoy.

Ok thanks everyone, it seems teh ZR1 should be losing less value. I spoke with a big used Corvette reseller and his feeling was the same.

However, I have come across a Z06 Ron Fellows with 40,000km for 45k$can. That's the lowest I've seen a Ron Fellows sell for in Canada. Would probably hold good value.

What I'm looking for is a summer toy. I am a former F2000 racer and enjoy the extra power. But I don't track my cars anymore and the GS with its removable top is quite interesting.

So hard to make up my mind.

ZR-1 will definitely hold the value better than the GS or Z-06 based on percentage of residual value to MSRP.

Let ask this question, what about a 2013 w 427..

Anyone think these cars will hold value .

Reason I ask is that I am considering a trade for my 08 for a very low mileage 2013 427 . Same color as mine now but naturally a Vert

Dealer keeps wanting to make a deal and mine is just about paid for and not sure worth the extra $$$ however IF we can come to terms with a trade I am wondering long term if this will hold value any at all

I am debating on whether to make this trade or hold off and maybe trade for C7 in a year or so

However have to admit I LOVE a 427

I was in the same situation just a couple months ago. I was between a C6 Z06 or reach for the ZR-1. I decided on the ZR-1 for the performance and even just a little hope of improved resale. I found a 2010 for $61K (US) with 3,300 miles and I have been super happy. I just came back from a BMWCCA DE and boy does the ZR-1 ROCK! Get the ZR-1 . . . you won't be disappointed and it will put a grin on your face every time you stretch your right leg. It's worth every penny or Canadian nickel
