Exactly what it says. I used Armor All glass cleaning towels to clean my chrome wheels for a quick drive this afternoon. You don't think the wheels will begin to become pitted with regular use of the towels, do you? Not sure if the chemical in the towels is harsh enough to do damage to the wheels. Any thoughts on this?

I can only hope you put on rubber gloves first. The harmful body oils will do serious damage to your wheels.
Ive done my wheels hundreds of times. A terry cloth rag is all you need for a quick clean up. For a more serious clean up a wash with whatever you like and some sort of chrome polish.

probably mostly alcohol and harmless to your wheels, but it does contain glycol ethers used in degreasers, cleaners, aerosol paints and adhesives. Not sure of the long term effect it may pose. To be safe I would suggest using products specifically made for the job.
Considering the environment the wheels have every time the car is driven, you probably don't have to worry too much about Armor All contamination. There's some nasty stuff on the roadway.
Some pretty good observations by z06 and Rocket above. On another car w. chrome which is a pretty tough substance, I used to keep those really cheap (Costco bag of 50 or something like that) white all-cotton hand towels in the garage w. a plastic spray bottle of water. Take one, wet it with water, walk around the car and wipe each down. Usually only took one towel. If it took two minutes total, I was sleepy.
All these towels go in washer with bleach and soap by themselves (nothing else in there). Wheels are fairly clean, towels are el cheapo and seem to last, cost is almost nothing. Only reason I don't do what Kvot says is, somewhere along the way I read that most paper towels are wood-content. Maybe it's nothing to worry about.
The last time that I used a glaze sealant on my car, I also did the chrome wheels. Nothing sticks to them now. I definitely will use again, next spring.
I seriously doubt a manufacturer would make and sell a product that would pit or damage your wheels and advertise it for that purpose. I just put a coat of wax on my wheels about every six months. Very easy to wipe clean after that.

I do too. I use the liquid glass polish on them periodically.
