And....be sure to get the options you want, and the color you want. Six months after you buy it, you won't care if you saved $2000 but got your third choice in color and none of the options you wanted. Get what you want, more than the year, and you will be happier in the long run.

All of our new Corvettes have been Z51 suspension and automatic transmission.
Our 2001 was nice for its time.
Our 2006 was something of a disappointment- it was a bit faster but didn't really feel faster. The steering was heavy and vague, alignments did not improve it. A little smaller inside and in the trunk.
Our 2009 was/is a huge improvement, even though it's the same size. In addition to the extra power, a performance axle ratio was now available (came with Z51 but could be ordered separately) and the car feels a lot faster and time slips verify that, the paddle shifter blips the throttle for downshifts and general shifting seems a bit better. Steering is both lighter and more precise. NPP dual mode exhaust. Bluetooth for the phone.
You can have fun in any Corvette, they are all good. But after owning both an early C6 and a later one, there's no way we would get one before 2008.

I had a street tune on the Corvette today done by Phil at Tampa Tuning. He completed a dyno tune on my 2006 C6 a couple of years ago and it felt like a totally different car.
Holy Crap - does this 2007 C6 feel stronger now! Much more aggressive shifts and torque management/timing modifications make the car come alive! With this tune, i have to always use 93 octane fuel as a minimum, but Wow is it worth it!

Go with the lowest mileage and newest that you can afford was posted previously and is great advice. I've had six vettes and the last three have all been 2008. Two were verts and my first 08 was a coupe.
I bought the coupe new in 2008 because I wanted the Jet Stream Blue color and the LS3 was nice too.
Later I bought a triple black vert loaded with NPP, Z51, Nav and chrome wheels. This I think is my favorite.
My last was a Crystal Red Metallic vert. Again loaded.
I like verts and things I want with my vert are NPP, HUD, Z51 and chrome.
Everyone is different and you need to really decide what options you really want. I've had nav but it is not very good and some people don't like the HUD.
Decide what is important to you then jump in and enjoy.
Good luck.
