Hey guys! I normally hang out on the C1 & 2 Forum but it got so hot here in the south this summer that I had to buy something with A/C. I ended up with a great 2011 Grand Sport that I really like but have the strangest problem with. When I depress the clutch the toe of my shoe I inevitably drags the brake pedal down with it. At first I thought I just wasn’t accustomed to driving the car but I’m still doing it two months later. It is much worse when I wear my big floppy clown shoes (which I wear regularly) and much better when I’m wearing my sleek and streamlined dress shoes (which I wear infrequently). I looked under there and I’ll be darned if the brake assembly makes a serious left turn immediately after the pedal and with both feet in there it’s crowded. Anybody else have this problem and does anybody have a solution that does not require wearing more dress shoes (and please don’t say “move your clutch foot to the left a little bit more”)?

Truly a unique problem. I sometimes have a clutch problem but might i suggest moving your left foot back more and try to develope the habit of pivoting your foot to use the clutch. Obviously your going to have to develop a diffent technique differnt from the C2...good luck

I agree with the above...try pulling your foot back towards you more and pivot off your heel on the floor when you push the pedal. This has the added benefit of giving you better control of the engagement of the clutch.

Looks like you have pretty wide feet. 
Have you tried moving the seat back as far as it will go? That might help get you out of a bind, so to speak. I have pretty big feet too, but my car's an auto so I don't have that problem.

Thank you for all the suggestions. One more piece to my particular problem is that I am 6' 5". The seat is already back as far and down as low as it will go. I've tried to move my heel back further to get my toe lower on the pedal but that pushes my leg up against the bottom of the dash. I'm sure this is only a problem because I'm accustomed to cars with lots more room under there. What you guys have convince me of is that nothing is wrong, I just have to keep working to find the "sweet spot" where I can co-exist with the surroundings.
Again, I love the car and will continue driving it until the weather cools down but even this morning as I depressed the clutch coming up to a traffic light I hit the brake also. My girlfriend is thinking, "geez the poor thing guy just can't drive a new car"
