Default Been a fun 8 years.....

Been 8 years since our 09 C6 then we went to a 13 C6 3LT GS. I am moving to the dark side so to speak. We ordered a 2017 1LT C7 manual 7 speed with performance exhaust and should have it in 5 weeks or so. Ended up getting the 1LT for 19% off MSRP with $2,000 owner loyalty. Our last C6's were both auto's and I been missing a stick. Since the C7 is not a daily driver decided to go back to a manual. And it will be the only stick out of 4 vehicles we own.

Both our previous C6's were heavily optioned and we found out we didnt use any of the features such as magnetic ride, memory settings, heated seats, etc. So this time went to a base model.

are you trading the C6 GS for the C7?

was the dealer fair in trade allowance?

Didnt trade. Bought the new one from Macmulkin, received 19% off MSRP after using my $2,000 Corvette loyalty.

C6 values are really tanking. I took a serious loss on my mine

OP, thanks for sharing your purchase experience. It provides some valuable reference points for those considering a new C7. Enjoy your new ride!

I also have a 13GS. Your going from a beautiful widebody to a base C7? The value of your C7 will tank just like the C6 if you only keep it 3-4 years.

I think in your For Sale post you stated your GS had a supercharger and aftermarket sound system . . .you never get your money back on those mods, and to some they may be a liability. So if your "serious loss" includes those additions it may not be a true indicator of all C6 values.

I also have a 13 GS coupe, 3LT, 6-speed manual, all stock, and compared to what I paid for it new at MacMulkin I'm thrilled with its current value.

In fact, I'd say its C7 values which have been tanking, as evidenced by the great deal you just got, and the unbelievably low prices on so many lightly used ones. Its a buyers market for sure.

Regardless, good luck with the C7 and enjoy it.

I also think it will be harder to sell a 1LT down the road. When a buyer has many Corvettes to consider from a For Sale site, they will most likely disregard a 1LT, for a 3LT. I know I did.

If I'm going to spend $30k-$50K for a used Corvette, I'm not going to buy one with zero creature comforts. I'll wait for more cars to come on the market, or travel an extra 100 miles before I would buy an expensive car that didn't have heated and memory seats, or a Nav system.

not really. the crazy thing is USED C7's are selling within only a few grand of new (low mileage used).

there's no comparison on the interior, the exterior (beauty in the eye of the beholder and what not). the powertrain? the LT1 vs LS3? not much.

7spd vs 6spd? same thing. the rev match is really cool. the A8 vs A6 is a big upgrade (granted you don't end up with one with issues though?)

the big difference imo is the C6Z vs C7Z.. huge difference. the C7Z is now almost total exotic supercar territory. in looks and performance. the C6Z is no slouch BUT it's not a C7Z. the C7GS is equal to it around a track and a Z07 equipped GS is faster..

OP, congrats and to the rest of you, you know if you could swing it (or accept the beating on selling a corvette, we've all done it) you'd be in a C7 not another C6.

Going to the dark side?? The C-7 is a great Corvette no matter which model you get. Your not going to the "Dark side" just to the other corner of our room. Congratulations on the C-7.

Its only money. A person is a fool to buy any vehicle with resale value being the main consideration. I loved my GS, lost money, but had a blast in the 4 years I owned it. I NEVER once used the heated seats, memory functions or even noticed a difference when changing the magnetic ride control. All worthless doodads in my opinion.
Now I will be back in a M7 and enjoy shifting again.
Life is to short to always worry about $$$. And this is coming from a retired guy on a pension. Wished I could of sold my GS for more than I paid for it, but I couldnt. End of story.

Get out there and run the hell out of your car
