Agreed, out of the box the Corvette is waaay to quite. they are built for the masses and must find a median on the exhaust noise. this is exactly why we have the NPP option now. For many of us the NPP is still to quite so on go the long tubes and cat backs to get that perfect exhaust note.
I didn't know you weren't allowed to have at least headers in CA.
Its not the headers, its the relocation or removal of a factory emission system ( the cats ) which is actually against the federal laws, but California has the strictest emission laws, so the inspection stations typically do look for modifications

You won't be able to get tags without the new and additional cats in the mid-pipe and the tune that goes with them, per the GM emissions recall. It's mandatory in Cali. I just had mine done in Oct. and the smog guy did look for mods. Maybe you'll get lucky...
