Question about smoke test
I've got a Check Gas Cap and check engine light that has just come on.
They have already put on two parts that relate to the problem. One part was just above the gas tank and the other part was up top underneath the value cover. In to me for 450 already. please don't flame i can't work on my car anymore. and i have been searching for good shop. What does a smoke pressure test do.. Thanks

Not sure, but I think the "Smoke Test" is pressuring the evap. closed system. If it has a leak, the smoke comes out at that location.
To keep replacing parts to find the problem is not very smart..

First off, it would be helpful if you had the codes. 
Most of us have had a CEL due to gas cap issue, and I would not put it past many service departments to make it into much more than it is.

It seems like many marginal shops will just keep replacing parts until they believe the issue is fixed which is expensive. If you have the error code please post it. There are many members here that have either had the problem or who are seasoned Corvette techs that can help. The codes are the first step in determining what might be going on.
