I called Summit, they said they have two models, one made of aluminum $400 and one made of steel $440. Money is not the issue, the material they're made of is. Which should I get? Thanks
It's up to you. I believe most of them are steel. Steel is stronger. Aluminum could be o.k. too. Aluminum may help the car rev better due to less weight. Although I doubt you would notice it that much. Most people also buy an ARP bolt at the same time.
just ordered a steel one myself. everything i read said aluminum is for racing only.
also if you don't know, you have the option to pin the crank, if you want to do this you need to buy their pin kit. I'm not doing it because I'm not forced induction but some guys like to do it for peace of mind. If you are supercharged then you have to pin the crank, and dual pinning is recommended, which requires ATI to add a second key way into the hub. Just fyi.
After more research and a discussion in the forced induction section, I decided to go with an Inovators West 10% overdrive balancer. Seems it's the way to go for running a blower. I'd recommend everybody pinning their crank, it's relatively easy to do. I was racing my car a while after I replaced my stock balancer, I didn't pin the thing and was going 100 in third gear red lining it, beating it's ***. The bold turned itself out and the balancer moved forward. Not good, lost the belt, power steering, every light on the dash lit up, I thought I blew the engine. Towed it home and redid the balancer and pinned it. So that balancer just failed (started wobbling and eating belts) and here we are getting yet another. If your supercharged get an inovators west balancer. The stock replacement from Napa won't cut it. Hopefully someone will learn from my mistake, anyway not the end of the world, I can change a balancer in 4 hours without a lift now....no I will not change yours for you
Haha I know you can't even see it! It always makes me happy to spend money on my car. At the end of this week the total will be $41,000! Should be 680 horsepower at the wheels. Now how much is a parachute...
