Default trunk hatch question

I living in Washington at the moment and it has been a little cold as of late. Since it has gotten cold my trunk panel seems to have become slightly larger. It pops not when I pull it up, somewhat like it was stuck against the other panel. It doesn't seem to be harming anything, i was just wondering if its normal in colder weather?

Thanks.

I really don't think the cold weather is going to make your rear hatch grow. Make sure there is no moisture around the weatherstripping on the hatch or the rear compartment. If its cold enough, they could be trying to freeze together if there is moisture.

The cold makes materials shrink, not expand. I'd investigate the latch and motor. May just need a little lubrication or adjustment.

The trunk and hood are supported by gas struts, and cold weather reduces the gas pressure to help open/raise/hold them open. I never did any specific testing, but generally they get wimpy in winter and spring back to life in spring.
Of course, mine do need replacement after a few years even in summer.
Could that be the problem?
