About a month ago I decided to park my vette and make some pretty big changes. So I figured I would share what all I've done.
So first off I wanted to strip some weight out of the car, keep it decently comfortable but much lighter. I took all the carpet out and the floor matts. Removed the radio and all the speakers. I filled in the hole where the radio came out with a switch pannel I made. I didn't even listen to the radio anyways and the previous owner butchered wires with an aftermarket system that sounded like **** anyways. So I cleaned up 7miles of random cut wires that led to no where. I also removed the stock seats because they are extremely heavy. I replaced them with 2 NRG racing seats which weigh about 20lbs each.
I also installed the RSD line lock kit. Which I highly recommend it was an easy install and works like a charm.
the biggest thing I did was porting my stock ls2 intake and throttle body and smoothed my valve covers out. I am getting a retune at the end of next week to see what gains the porting made. I have cnc ported procomp heads and a BTR Stage 4 cam so I believe the intake was choking my power quite a bit. I'll post dyno numbers next week to share the results of it.
Lastly I already made a small thread about it but I installed badlandz exhaust cutouts which are awesome! But extremely loud!
Final weight 3031lbs
Here are all the pics from the changes!!
I guess if you are trying to make a true racecar, you did well. Not for me though. You're car now weighs about what my car weighs, with the stock seats and stereo. Curious about the dyno numbers.

Mines a z51 so according to some other forum guys who have actually weighed their cars I dropped close to 300lbs. Yea the z is already pretty damn light but I can actually feel a huge difference in handling!
Can you post more pictures of the seats? Do they recline? CF back? Cost + fitment? Thanks
No they do not recline they are fixed back fiber glass. $380 shipped for the pair. They fit in the car but I had to make mounting brackets to bolt them to which was fairly simple.
you will have the airbag light on because all that stuff gets unplugged under the factory seat. And the steering wheel won't telescope anymore. I think they fit well and so far I love them.
But due to the brightness of exposed LEDS and night driving issues, i would take that switch panel and hit it with 1000 grit paper on the back side. This would convert the panel to a diffused panel but still have a solid glow. I have done this to many project and custom panels in the past.
Last car had over 2000 LEDS so i LOVE lights btw, LOL.

that's a good idea I might do that.. I have them on a switch so I usually don't have them on a night it's basically a "cabin light"
