Default Tpms question

I just bought my c6 and I'm trying to figure out the bugs in it. I have read through the faqs and haven't been able to find my problem. When I first start the car, it says service tire monitor. If I go to the screen that displays the pressures, they are blank. The faqs gave info about them showing "xx" but nothing about being blank. Does anyone have any insight on this?

There are two possibilities that could cause the problem. The first would be dead batteries, but I would think that it is unusual for all 4 to go bad at the same time. The batteries usually last around 7 years or so. You have to replace the sensors which requires removing the tire. A dead battery should show XX for the pressure on the wheel with the bad sensor. The second possibility is the radio sensor that accepts the wireless signal. This would be my guess since all the wheels show no reading at all.

Do the tpms sensors have a chrome nut on them?Upon further inspection, all my valve stems are just plain rubber, making me think they aren't even installed. Second, what if my rims don't have the bolt hole for the tpms?

Aftermarket one's can have rubber stems. Mine do and I bought some chrome sleeves to fit over them. I don't know what bolt hole you're talking about. They use the same hole any valve stem uses.

from pictures of the tpms sensors I see, there is the valve stem that goes through the hole and also another bolt that secures it to the wheel. Am I wrong?

It should look like this. One hole, one nut, not a bolt.

The factory ones have that nut. The rubber ones do not.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I had similar issues and eventually traced it back to a cell phone charger plugged into the outlet in the console. If you have anything plugged in, remove it and see if that changes anything

It would be nice to know more about the car...year, miles...stock wheels or aftermarket etc.

It's a 2005 with 80k miles. I believe the wheels are stock, but I'm not positive. Idk if you can tell from the pic

Stock 05 wheels were either chrome or polished. No black.

Just take it to a tire shop that can handle the low profile tires. Have them take one tire off and you have your answer. Then you can order some sensors or resolve the problem right there at the shop.

I'll tell you this....do NOT drive your car hard through corners, etc...until you sort out what is going on with TPMS. Almost sent me over a cliff when I got my car, and was having issues with the TPMS sensors. Messes with the active handling...putting on brakes when it shouldn't, etc. I replaced all TPMS with OEM sensors and all problems were solved.
