Navigation System/Still making noises.

I had my radio replaced at the dealer because my old radio supposedly went bad and was taking power to prevent the car from going into accessory mode to start. The odd thing is, prior to my car dying, the radio would make a sound when opening the car door, as if it was on (a buzz, hum sound).. Ironically, It still does this, with the new radio. Was this a common thing in the C-6vette with the navigation system?? I'm trying to research this and can't find anything..

That sound is normal. It's the nav disc spinning up (I think). They all do it.

Thanks, I was worried that it was doing the same thing the old radio did before shorting out.. I do not have the disc in it if you're referring to the dvd....

The other component that makes a noise is the inside temperature sensor motor left of the start button.

The sound is definitely coming from the radio, not the dash.. The sound starts when you open the door and the car is actually not running, nor in accessory mode yet.. Thanks...

Put a dvd in and see if it changes.

Or remove the nav disc - if there is no disc in either slot then there should be no noise

When you open the door, the unit starts looking for a disc in either slot, this is what you are hearing.

The noise is there whether the disc is in or not..

Thanks.. I'm a little paranoid since my previous radio made the same sound, and was the problem when killing the car by shorting out.. I appreciate it...
