Default Auto Trans Question

Under normal driving conditions. With a little fun driving every once in a while thrown in. What kind of mileage can one get. I've got a 05 with 75,000 on it. It was been fully serviced. Thanks

You mean mpg? My 05 auto gets 20 average and that's 90% city driving.

75% or more of my miles are interstate where, when traffic permits, I do 80mph or better; since buying new in '06 I've averaged 26mpg. Edited to answer question: mine has just under 100k miles on it and still going strong

My '05 with the LS3 gets about 23.5. The LS2 got about 21, and the LS7 got about the same.

I'm a bit of a lead foot, and always shift manually on the A4, so I hold a gear accelerating longer than the car would if left in D. With the Z06, I was always lead footing it as well.

I also, always downshift on all of those engines, just because I can, and I'm addicted to the sound.

It sounds like he is asking about longevity, since he provided the total miles and care level. "Mileage" usually refers to MPG, but I am not sure here.

Your car has the A4, whereas all other year C6's with auto's have the A6. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some 2005 owners with 200K without a rebuild, and I already know there are some with a rebuild at 100K.

I have my own experience with an A4 in a '01 Silverado, 196,000 to date on original trans. But, I don't think that is totally relevant to your question, assuming your question was about longevity, not MPG.

Well in that case, my engine was replaced at 175,000, and my tranny was just replaced at 230,000.

Sorry guys I didn't make myself more clear. I meant to word it as on average how many miles can you expect to get from the A4 AT. I do understand it depends on the driver and if service was ever done.

I'm not sure if there are enough of us over 200,000 miles to actually get a very good statistical sample. But as far as transmissions go, I think there enough to say that I wouldn't worry too much about yours in the near future.

If the OP is asking how long will the vette engine/ trans/ diff last...certainly 150K even more; many have stated over 200K.

Yet fuel pumps and harmonic balancer are known expense repairs that could occur in this time frame. Maybe even an OEM Nav/ radio replace/ repair expense. At 75K brake rotors maybe near the end of their life...yet I would not call rotors that expensive.

I wouldn't worry, you have many years of driving enjoyment ahead.

I would say a modern day transmission is good for 140-180k miles on average with normal use (Automatic).

If properly serviced and not beat on, the A4 transmission should last 200,000 plus miles, easily.

I have an '08, with the LS3. Summer driving without a headwind etc, I generally average somewhere between 30-32 mpg at highway, interstate speed. I don't really pay attention to mileage around town, as I know it will be less than highway driving.

I can't remember the code for this transmission 1LE65?
But it is a tried and true transmission with a great record. In 2006 the A-6 came out.

Anywhere from 125k-250k before a major service/rebuild is needed. It all depends on driving habits. Autos are pretty tough.

My experience with an A4 was in an LS1 powered '00 Z28. I took that car to the drag strip occasionally and I drove it like I stole it most of the time. I sold it a little over a year ago with 141K on the clock and everything was running great. I hadn't even changed out the ATF.
