As far as buying an entire new set of pads, maybe give the manufacturer a call and see if they can hook you up with a single pad. If it were me, I would tell them the story, be contrite while expressing my own idiocy, and I'll bet they feel sorry for you and send a new one, on the house. It's really a pretty good story.
Good luck and keep us posted.
I was actually looking a bit closer at the pad and it's fine; it's a bit scuffed on the back, but it's seen nowhere near the level of damage that the rotor took. In that confrontation, the pad definitely won. I have a new rotor on the way and I'll just put it on with the pad facing the correct direction.
Thanks to all for going so easy on me, I have been doing my own brakes for a long time as well but sometimes you get complacent and do something wrong. This time I'm out $100, so in the grand scheme it ain't so bad.

So yeah, I need a new rotor and a single pad; not sure I can make the single pad happen, but the rotor will be on its way here soon. Wow I feel dumb.
wasn't too bad of a lesson to learn.......we are all human and none of us perfect.................even the Corvette forum members aren't...........
glad you got it sorted out......................and feel pretty sure something like that won't happen again
It's like when I can't find my Pencil, keys and or cell phone and I blame everyone in the house for taking it. Meanwhile, The Pencil tucked by my ear, The keys were in my pocket and the cell phone was in my hand. ROTF LMAO!
glad you where able to figure it out... Honestly it was the only logical reason for the rotor to get as trashed as it was.
I was going to suggest reusing the pads... I didn't imagine them getting messed up bad at all... the back plate is just that... some ruff sanding/filing will have that cleaned up in no time.
