Can anyone PM me where they may have found there Lojack system installed?
My new to me C6 came with Lojack key fobs and I would rather remove the tracking system rather then renew the service.
Thanks
Dan
There really is no ultimate common spot. Before going on an exhaustive search you should just call lojack and give them the VIN. They keep that info and can activate the system without your unit serial number. They will already have it if the system was ever activated.
Depending on how lazy the installer was, you may find it somewhere exotic like in the rear bumper shell, behind rear panels by XM antenna, in a fender, or it may be as dumb as in the engine bay near the battery. You will just have to search around until you find it.
Depending on what model you have it could look like any of these.
No two installs are the same. That is by design. When I bought my 2005 in 2015 it had/has LoJack. I called about having it activated. Never did though.
Never mind, found it. It may be time to break out the spectrum analyzer.
Frequency. LoJack transmits on a radio (RF) carrier frequency of 173.075 MHz. Vehicles with the system installed send a 200 millisecond (ms) chirp every fifteen seconds on this frequency.
Searched the entire car with spectrum analyzer, no signal found anywhere around 173mhz. My best guess is that since it's been in there since 2008, it has probably deactivated itself.
