This post is for all the oil change OCDing owners on here. Have you seen www.goldplug.com ? These drain plugs have an extremely strong magnet and are very well made - in America no less! I have them on my engine and differential and they make them for manual transmissions as well. No comparison to auto parts stores stuff. On the differential I placed it in the fill hole so I can pull it occasionally without draining. Each time it has some graphite looking stuff on it. I guess you could do that with the manual as well.
I have not used that company's product, so can't comment on it. I have used Chevy's OEM magnet plug with satisfactory results on both the race cars and street cars. Strongly recommend that everyone use some sort of magnet plug as even the best filter will allow very small particles to pass.
