Got this message on my 2011 C6 vert on startup : Service Active Handling ..... Service ABS .... My code reader didn't pick up any codes. The ABS and Traction Control lights are on. So I'm guessing I have to go to dealer with a Tech 2 for diagnosis?

Your probably correct as far as the dealer goes. I had this message and went to Autozone for their free read and it was not a Tech 2.
On your problem, did you get two different messages? One for Active Handling and a second for ABS? Also how exactly did you bring the car to rest before the start up? By chance did you make a hard left turn at a slow speed into a parking spot?
Scrolling across the screen where the mileage would be : Service Active Handling then Service ABS. Traction control lit up and ABS lit up on dash. No hard left just a right hander into the driveway about 50 yards straight into the garage. Left it sitting all week then cranked her up on Thursday and had the messages. Traction and ABS lights on.
Thanks,
Tim

This could almost be a sticky, in no particular order... Battery, spark plug wire not completely on, blue connectors in passenger side foot well, wheel sensor, ECM, EBCM.
I had this happen a number of times on a C5 of mine..it was doing it nearly everytime I drove it. Believe it or not it turned out to be the grounds on the shocks. There was a post about that scenario along with pics so I cleaned them up and NEVER had that happen again..i will see if I can find it..
You'll get those warnings if the battery voltage drops below a certain value, don't know what it is. I sat in my car programming the radio and nav with the door open for quite a time once and when I pushed the start button, I got those two messages. I charged the battery back to full and haven't gotten them since.
Yeah, what Kenny said - most likely a sensor. I had the same thing happen to me making an easy left turn on the street and then almost an immediate right into a store parking lot. Got the same messages you did and the "fix" was to replace a failed steering wheel position sensor.
I DID get the notice again after the sensor was replaced though but only once so far. So it could be multiple failures and they haven't caught all of them yet. Pretty annoying but that's what you get with tech these days!

I was getting this message as well as the Service Traction Control message every time I drove the car. Replaced the battery and topped off the brake fluid (as I read in a thread some people did this) and the warning kind of went away. I still get them but now is rarely. I have noticed though that they seem to show up when I'm running the a/c.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it comes back.
You can clear it by starting, do a reset on the DIC, then drive down the street a little. Once you get over 10 MPH, it should go away. If it doesn't go away or continues to come back, then you may want to take it to a shop with a Tech II.
I found on my car, that the connectors on the wheels come loose and I have to reseat them from time to time. I see it a lot after I clean the wheel barrels with my brush when detailing it.

It never went away. I drove it to work that day and then back home after. The messages stayed until I hit reset then came back after I cranked back up. The ABS and Traction Control lights on dash stayed on the whole time.
OK, I finally got a code reader that would read the codes. It read C0040-00, so I'm looking at the connector and if that checks out I'll be replacing the rt frt wheel speed sensor.
I have a 2005 Z51 M6. If it's not the battery then it's going to be one of the sensors associated with the traction control system.
For me it turned out to be the steering wheel position sensor and the right-rear wheel speed sensor.
When I first took it to the dealer only the steering wheel sensor was throwing a code, but once they changed it and test drove it the wheel sensor appeared. Haven't had any problems since.

The AUTOTEL code reader led me to the wheel speed sensor. I replaced it and the hub with one from Advance Auto Parts for $113 and a couple of hours. Voila problem solved!
Thanks all.

Most code readers will not read ABS codes. You need a code reader that specifically states that it reads ABS codes.

The error is for the wheel speed sensor CIRCUIT. That means the wheel speed sensor and all the wiring associated with it. You could have a corroded pin in a connector or a broken wire.
