Default Insulation Under Cup Holders?

Okay, as part of my installation of a new Nav unit I have had to pull my center console. That has exposed the area under the cup holders that got me to thinking whether there might be a way to insulate this area ( all of about 4 x 10 inches) and in doing so cut down the amount of heat that flows up to the cup holders. I think I have about 1/4" of space to work with.

Any suggestions or thoughts about how/whether to do this?

Do a forum search on interior Insulation, sound deadening..etc. There are many threads on this subject.

I should have been more clear. I've already done a noise deadening mod to the car, so I have a pretty good idea what's out there. What I was/am looking for is guidance as to the specific space under the cup holder compartment, both in terms of how much space I have to work with and also best solution. Keep in mind the area involved is all of about 12 x 5 inches, so I don't want to go out and spend a ton of money getting a lot more insulation than I actually need.

By way of an update, I decided (at least for now) to create my own foil backed insulator using some trunk liner (speaker carpet) and aluminum foil (two layers), cut to fit the area. This measures about 1/4", just not sure if I can add another 3/16" or so under that.

I have hush mat on my tunnel and DEI heat and tunnel shield over that. I also dit the tunnel plate.
On another note, beaders with or without cats will help as well.

Insulate the whole console, top, sides, everything you can see. There are several products made specifically for that. I used duct insulation from Lowes...foil back on one side, sticky on the other. Works great and about $20 or so for a roll of it.

I don't have a specific answer to your question about how much room is between the console and the tunnel, sorry.
