Still about a month away but just wondering the best start up procedure for my 09 LS3 after 4 months in storage. I've read if you hold your foot to the floor it will prime the oil system before a start without starting the car..

If you floor it, the engine will spin over but not fire, so yes that will get the oil circulating without the engine running.
This is similar to the question of changing oil in the fall or spring, many many opinions. Cold starts are supposed to be the hardest on an engine, while obviously I don't think you need to prime an engine every time, after sitting for several months I like to get the oil moving around before firing. Does it make a difference, I'm old and don't recall ever reading an engine blowing up because it wasn't primed. The oils we are using are also high tech and offer more protection than years ago... oh, and my engine builder asked that I do it for one cycle
What difference does it make whether the engine starts or just cranking and not starting? The oil circulates throughout the same either way.
Circulating and priming the oil in the engine after its been sitting since November, I read it in a previous post and it sounded like a good idea. Engine rebuilders prime the engine before a start. Just getting opinions.
Or you could get the right size wrench and put it on the harmonic balancer and turn it over by hand a few times, but the STARTER BUTTON will probably be a lot easier.
In fact, while you are thinking about it, go start it right now and let it run about 15 minutes.
Holding the gas pedal to the floor doesn't really cause any problems or extra effort so go ahead and do it to circulate the oil before starting. Don't expect the oil gauge to show anything until the engine actually starts though.
The modern synthetic oil used in these vehicles is amazing.....as long as there is oil in the sump, the time needed to get it moving after a 4 month sit will mean nothing to the life of the engine....in a matter of seconds it will be just as if you ran it yesterday!! Actually, battery power and fuel quality are a bigger problem these days.....
Hit the start button, let it idle for a few seconds, take it for a spin to get the engine to temperature.
Take it home, pull it in the garage, and change the 2000 mile old oil that was left in last fall prior to putting it up for the winter.
Enjoy the road trips until next hibernation period.
