After almost a year of searching I finally drove home a corvette today! I saw a 2011 GS in Illinois (we're in Ohio) and once we settled on a price, the wife and I rented a car, drove to the dealership, and drove home the next day in a corvette. So happy with the car so far! We were even able to stop at some Route 66 stops along the way.
The only problem that I ran into is that towards the end of the trip (after 5-6 hours of driving) there was a squeal from the engine. It is slow at idle but quickly speeds up when I hit the gas. After shutting it down for 5 minutes and restarting, it seemed to be quieter but not completely gone. This wasn't happening at the dealership or during the first portion of our drive home. I've read about this issue on here but it seems there are many things that could be the culprit (belt, tensioner, pulley, etc.). I'm a little bummed to have to solve this right from the start, but otherwise I'm in love with the car! Here are some pictures from the trip.
Hopefully it is not the Harmonic Balancer for you. Find out fast what the issue is. Must be some sort of warranty you received for a number of days after purchasing.
