I have an issue with a few seat zippers where the zipper has come undone from behind the slider. I'm not entirely sure what the appropriate fix is for this and haven't touched it for fear of making it worse (eventually it will get worse when something pulls on it, though). Do I just need to take the zipper back up to the very top and hope it resets? Is there something else? I noticed the zippers on the back of the seats are fairly tight, so I didn't want to pull it all back and it be so tight that it won't reset when pulling the slider back down. Take a look at the picture. You'll notice the zipper slider down low and it's undone part way up the seat.
That zipper is going to continue to separate no matter what. What isn't clear is whether the zipper pull is broken or merely separated from the coil/teeth.
It's a self-healing zipper. If the pull tab isn't broken, you can reseat the pull and work it up past the separation, adjusting the pressure on the sides of the zipper to equalize the length up past the separation, then re-close the zipper.
You could loosen the seat cover by unzipping the other zippers, so as to loosen the tension on this zipper while "healing" it.
Nothing is actually broken with the slide / pull and it's still on track. The zipper just managed to come loose behind it. The only thing missing is the bit to grab the slide / pull. I'll just run a large paperclip or something into it for the purpose of re-pulling it. It's good to know that it's able to fix itself. I'll give it a go next time I get a bit of time, and I'll definitely release the other side as well, though I think one of the seats has both zippers like this, so I'll have to do one then the other with the pressure released and hope they both work out.
it should reset itself once you pull it down and back up.
Worst case scenario, if it keeps separating, pull it down and back up while using a tool to hold the two sides together, and pour a line of superglue on the zipper,if its not holding by itself the zipper is ruined anyway so you may as well glue it.
