I bought the aux harness 2 with added bluetooth, and adding that to my Nav unit prior to Spring.

Ray Kawal sells kits or ready made harnesses for an aux port for the C6 Corvette.

I have had luck with the GM Pal and harness that Ray sells on an 09. However, I had an 07 without XM and was unable to make that work because it lacked XM. I believe the harness needs one of the XM "channels" to work correctly. I even spent $100 at the dealer to get them to try and make it work via a Tech 2 with no joy.
I have an 08 now and after going through all of the other options in my other Vettes, in my opinion, buying a new head unit is the best way to go to add iPod functionality. The newer units, with Apple Play, are going to provide a far better experience than the clunky factory units. Swapping out the head unit is easy and I bought one pre-wired from Double D Mods so it was plug and play.
Good luck and keep us posted please.

Somewhere on this forum there are directions for hooking splicing into the XM box at the left rear of the car. You need a 10 foot 3.5mm headphone cable. You splice into the XM box and tune your radio to XM channel 0 and you can play your ipod through it. I've done it to my Vette and Silverado and it works great.
I didn't buy a shield cable, just a cheap one from Fry's. And if I plug my charger into my phone, the 3.5mm cable will pick up some interference. So either buy a shielded one or don't charge the same time you are playing.

Contact Ray Kaŵal and you will not have to do any splicing. He makes everything C6 specific and you just plug into existing harnesses. He has a few ways to go. Read his site and pick the best option for you. My 2007 has Bluetooth and my phone and music go seamlessly through the car stereo.

Choose the radio brand you like and it will show some head unit upgrade packages that Double D Mods sells. They are a forum vendor and I have purchased from them a few times. Dennis (the owner) will pre-wire the radio. In other words, he gets the adapter harness and solders the wires to the ones coming out of the radio. When you do the install, you plug the connectors in to the car's harness. No soldering or cutting wires. You tell him if you have steering wheel controls, etc. and he provides the correct harness and the GM adapter that keeps the chimes.
Installing the "head unit" or "radio" is really easy. You take out the console and pull the bezel that surrounds the radio and the AC controls. Four bolts hold the radio and it pulls right out. The hardest part for me was routing the cables for the iPod to the center console. I drilled a hole to pass them through. There are several posts for installing and Ray Kawal's site also has some great radio removal instructions with pictures that are easy to follow.
Keep us posted on whatever you decide.
