Key Fobs
Hey Guys, Just bought a 2005. Have a question, It came with just the #2 Key Fob part # 10372542. Which #1 fob would I buy to match up to it? There are 2 10372541 or 10372543. It also did

Any c6 fob will work. The number on the back really doesn't mean anything. Inside they are identical. The style you have came with the 05-07. They changed in 08 but they will all work the same except for the metal key. Bring vin and proof of ownership to the dealer and they can make you a key.

100%. And get it done soon...if you lose the fob that you have, you are in trouble. Same thing if the battery goes dead...no metal key to get into the car. Also, there is a fob out there somewhere that will open and start your car. Once you get another fob and metal key, these instructions for programming:https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tructions.html
I just bought FOBs and keys for my 2009. Here are the part numbers but i think they are different shape for LS2 Corvettes
-- FOR 2009 CORVETTE --
Key Blank - 25995382
FOB #1 - 25926479
FOB #2 - 25926480
I also did find this site that you can type in the Vin and it will tell you the correct parts for your car
https://www.gmpartsgiant.com
Key Cutting, I had mine done at the dealer, they just need proof of ownership (registration, title, etc) and a photo ID and they will cut the key they charged me $20
You should reprogram all your FOBs so as cclive said you dont have a key hanging around that will start your car. There is a way to deactivate all the keys and start over, which seems to be the long procedure from the link above, but owners manual has a different procedure, so if the process in the link above does not work look in your owners manual.

I believe 10372541 has a "1" engraved on back, 10372542 has a "2" engraved on back, and 10372543 doesn't have a number on back.
If I were you, I'd buy a 10372541 and two 10372543s. Clear the car's fob table so the previous owner can't steal your car using his spare key(s). Then do a re-learn with 10372541 in slot #1, your existing fob in slot #2, and the two 10372543s in slots #3 and #4.
Now you've got as many fobs programmed as the Corvette will allow. One for you, one for the significant other, one for the back of the drawer, and one for a strategic undisclosed location.
Slots #1 and #2 are special because they are associated with the car's custom options whereas #3 and #4 are not. Any fob can be a #1 or #2, but it's a lot less confusing to use the ones with the right number engraved on back.
Lots of choices for fobs...used on Ebay, dealer, Cultrag, Amazon etc. As stated above, the number engraved into the fob is no different than a label that you stick on the fob. The order in which the fobs are programmed will determine what number the car thinks that the fob is...regardless of what number is engraved on it. Any fob with a label indicating its' number will be fine. The car knows which fob is which...the label is just for you to know which is yours, the wife's, the girlfriend's etc.

Thanks I found one on e-bay. But I do have one more question. I go out start the car hit my option buttons to see if it locates the fob I have and I get options unavailable in my dic. Im assuming after I get a key cut and can do the five turns and put the new fob in to program it this will go away and I will have options for my fob.... Am I correct to think this....

This means that the fob you have has been programmed to the car as either the third or fourth out of four possible. Only the first two to be programmed can access the options menu. So there are at least 2 fobs floating around (or lost) that will start your car. You will need to do the long program procedure so the fob you have and the new one will then be number 1 & 2. All lost fobs will be erased from memory.
Okay one more question, if thats the case how do I know my glovebox slot will work, the reason I ask is from what Ive read if this is a 3 or 4 fob it wont read in the slot correct, or if Im wrong am I going to be ble to use this fob to do the check as per your instructions....

Okay let me rephrase what I said. The working fob I have now, can still be used to check glovebox slot. If slot dosnt detect it then that means the slot isnt working ? Or when I get the new fob could I just do a short program and if the fob programs Then can I do the long program after....

I edited my response above a bit, but the answer is that your current fob will be a valid test as per the instructions to test the slot. If the slot is working, your current fob will cause KNOWN FOB during the test...this means the slot is working. Any currently programmed fob 1,2,3 or 4 will work this way. As EV said above, there are at least two fobs out there that will open and start your car. Read the instructions carefully all the way through to get a good understanding before starting.
A check of the glovebox slot is part of the programming instructions that I linked to above. A fob that is already programmed to the car will make the DIC show KNOWN FOB when placed in a working slot. Another way to check is to remove the battery from a working fob, then place it correctly in the slot and try starting the car. If it starts, the slot must be working.
