I have a 2011 Grand Sport 6 speed manual transmission, about 14,000 miles. Was driving along and shifted up from 1 to 2nd, then to 3rd. when it went into 3rd, the clutch pedal stayed on the floor. You could pull it up with your foot, but when you pushed it back down there was no real resistance and it would stay on the floor. Car was in 3rd so I was able to drive it a short distance to a friend shop, but he doesn't work on Corvettes. His mechanic said that its all hydraylic and probably the clutch cylinder or a spring someplace or possible linkage off someplace.
I had it towed by flatbed wrecker to a nearby Chevy dealership and told him my problem. I also told him what I could remember about a recall on the clutch cylinder. Hopefully it will be a simple fix. I have Chevy Platinum Extended Service Protection Plan if its not the recall on the clutch cylinder. Dealer said it may be at least a week before they can look at it.
Is there anything else it could be or any suggestions?
Sounds to me like the clutch cylinder reservoir has failed which has been mentioned here on a recall before. I also have a 2011 Grand Sport with a little over 9,000 miles.
Anyone have an idea how hard it is to replace the clutch cylinder? What will they bave to do to fix it?
Which "clutch cylinder?"
The master cylinder is relatively straightforward. The slave cylinder requires pulling the exhaust, dropping the rear suspension, and pulling the gearbox and torque tube.
A somewhat common problem, it happened on my buddy's 2005. The Ranger Method may or may not help but if the pedal is stuck to the floor under normal temp, I'd say not.

It'll be covered under recall alright but either way you're golden, Rich.
No rhyme or reason why some fail, some don't; except, to assume its happened to enough irate owners GM was forced to cover problem.
Interestingly enough IIRC this is a non-warranty warranty item, like cracked fuel pump collars.
GM doesn't recall all cars susceptible to a problem, no-no.
BUT IF a customer comes in complaining of bad clutch/fuel odor they're covered under a warranty recall. A recall few 2-3 owners have heard of, while original owners received letters detailing recalls & conditions, as did I being orig owner of my '08 Z06.
Believe this brake issue's the most prevalent complaint against C6, save HB.
Here's my recent post on what actually causes this and the choices you have. Since your pedal stays down you've had a piston failure in the master cylinder which should be replaced under the TSB at no charge to you.
The dealership called me back today and said they had looked at the car and it was the master cylinder as I had told him when it was towed over there. He now has to get the part, and said it should be in tomorrow. He said that they couldn't start the car and that it needs a new battery. I wonder if it wouldn't start because the clutch is not disengaged? Normally when I start it, I put the clutch to the floor with my foot on the brake....guess we will see tomorrow.
But he did say they would take care of most of the tow bill....if I had taken it to the closest Chevy dealer the would cover it all, but I bypassed the local dealership to take it 30 miles further to one that deals with more Corvettes...what can you say...

Does the acc. work? I would find it a very strange coincidence that the battery just happened to die. Don't rule it out completely but I would have to check that for myself.

and well worth the added expense to have it towed to a facility you had more confidence in............ hope you get it all sorted out and are back on the road fairly quick
It was all ok last Friday. But it has sit at the dealership for the past week. Not really unusual for me not to drive it for a week with no problems. I sort of figured it's the clutch not be disengaged keeping it from cranking....but who knows, they may have left the accessory switch on or something to run it down.
