Question: this morning my active handling light came on and my 05 6 speed started acting like I was driving with the emergency brake on. I turned system off and it drove again but steering was tight. After I restarted car all was well. Any ideas or past experience with this issue? TIA

Usually, the "Service Active Handling" light is telling you that the system detected a fault and turned itself off. Aside from not having AH available, no problem. Usually it resets if you shut down the car and restart. That happened to us on our current vacation, took it to a dealer at the destination and had it fixed.
But sometimes the car will do strange or dangerous things and it needs to be fixed immediately. That sounds like your situation. I would find a good dealer or good independent Corvette shop, make an appointment, and not drive the car again except to take it to them slowly and carefully.

I have 05 also, and experience the same, and was told the battery is starting to fail, replace battery that was little over two years, replaced it, no more problems.

How old is your battery?

So the battery issue probably does not apply here, but 1bdvt's comment is excellent.
When we took our car into the dealer with the SAH light problem last month, the first thing the service writer asked was "How old is your battery?" In our case, less than two years and everything working normally.
A bad battery connection can also cause the problem, but less frequently and often shows other symptoms also.
