A different Free Paddle shift mod
I know there are other Paddle shift right ups. But wanted to share this
As we all know both paddle are push pull and function the same lame way on both sides.
I just reversed my right hand so it would upshift when pulled and downshift when pushed, OPPOSITE THE FACTORY WAY.
So after driving for a few days I thought why not make the push and the pull on the right side up Shift and make both on the left down shift.
This makes way more sense because right now the push function after the mod on the right has a minus sign which could be interpreted as all functions on the right are a down shift.
Anyway it is easy to do and if there is interest I will do an easy to follow write up.
Just to recap push or pull on right = up
push or pull on left = down

Ok, I did mine a few years back, but went an extra step ans added a set of brushed aluminum custom paddles. So I have down on the left and up on the right both are pull only. so what did you do to make it different?

I just posted in a different thread that my wheel is disassembled right now, as I did the wire swap today and I'm waiting for aftermarket paddles to arrive on Friday. Yes, I would be curious to understand how you made push/pull perform the same function for both the right and left sides (assuming I read your post correctly).
Thanks,
NMJ

on the right and capped up wire on the left! no need for custom paddles and you retain the push function if for some crazy reason you have loooonnng thumbs!

The three wire plug has an up, down and connection wire in the center you just cut the down wire leaving a couple inch hang out of the plug and splice that to the up wire. Do the same with the down wire on the left side. So you wind up with the up wire connected to both outside plug wires on the right and the down wire connected to both outside plug wires on the left. And of course and terminated/capped down wire

I got the aftermarket paddles strictly for better reach and aesthetics.

Not to bag on your thread but you can accomplish this, as many have, without cutting wires. There are plenty of write ups already. It's been a few years but I believe if you swap the pink and brown wire pin out it will do the same. Just push a paper clip into the 3 wire connectors and the wires will pull right out. Sorry if I stepped on your toes. I would have to verify wire colors as it's been a few years.
I don't feel bagged on
It's all good!
This make left push and pull a downshift and right push pull up shift.

Note: After reading the link I did notice but did not remember the thumb on the left paddle will still up shift. I did not remember it doing so but I never used the thumbs. In any case my comment early was incorrect. It will D/S on the left and U/S on the right but the thumbs will still work as they did from the factory. Clear as mud right, lol.

I am out of town and away from my car for about a week when I get back I'm going to open the wheel and look at the left side but I believe you can make the left side downshift push or pull the right side is easy examine the wiring diagrams and you will see what I'm talking about
I have only done the right side at this point so take note of that please

Alright Completed the mod.
Now no matter if you push or pull left is down shift right is up shift.
Everything is done in the left paddle IC board. The diagram in this post is correct.
I cut 1 trace on the IC Board and installed 1 jumper wire on the board.
cut the #4 wire on the left paddle plug and tied the harness side of that #4 wire into the #1
wire at the left paddle plug!
Now all is well!

If you have to make a traffic maneuver where you have to turn the steering wheel more than a quarter turn and it caused a wreck because you needed to shift gears and couldn't, please don't post about it here.
Maybe there's a reason why the OEM paddles are set up the way they are.

Also maybe there is a reason chevy put 5 spokes on or the exhaust they do or why they don't put leather in base models. how about D steering wheels or interior LEDs might blind you at night.
There are plenty of threads about paddles and even some vendors that sell F1 mod which is what this is. Please consult someone. or just search your forum!
Thanks
Nope, my push and pull on left are both down shifts on right they are both up shifts.
Done @ the wheel with a few precautions. Use the link I attached above.

But the Diagram in this tread that i marked up is correct. I use a steak knife to cut the required trace on the back side of the IC at the up switch.
I just made both switches down shift switches.
