Don't go to a dealer. They will install the same crappy GM balancer that is failing on you now. Some have gone bad in as few as 3000 miles. There are a couple of people on here who are on their third GM balancer. Buy any aftermarket balancer and have an independent shop install it.
I agree, a competent Independent Shop best bet.. The HB on my C5 Vert blew all the hell couple Weeks ago. Local Performance Shop quote beat the crap out of local Chevy Dealer. Just waiting for that local shop to catch up.
QUESTION to the Forum--My Brother ( a Ford Guy..) told me he thinks OK to DRIVE the C5 to the Shop EVEN THOUGH when HB went.., it Took our the Front Oil Seal... He 'thinks' the LS1 has an INTERNAL balancer. I FEAR damage to the crankshaft .. He says the Internal Balancer will protect the CRANK .. The oil leak believe it or not -isn't that bad.. HOW BOUT it Y'all -- I think better take it over on a Rollback ...... ?
If the wobble is slight and just makes the belt sound like crickets chirping I'd slowly drive it to a nearby shop. If it's looking like it's about to fly off and make a hole in the hood I'd have it towed.
