Default Key Fob

I need to replace one of my FOB's for my 2011 C6, 2 questions, do I have to state if it's for driver #1 or #2 and the most important question, any ideas where would be the cheapest to buy one? Thanks for your help

It doesn't matter what number is on the back. They are all identical on the inside. I would go with ebay if I needed one.

You don't have to get a particular number. The car assigns the number when it's programmed, but if you want to be able to look at the number on the fob to see which one you have in hand, it would help. You'll need to use the long program if you want to name them one or two. The short program will add the new one as three or four depending on how many are in there already and the memory for one or two won't be recalled by which fob you use. Take the trunk key from the old one and transfer it to the new one.
If I were buying new, I check out Cultrag Performance. Cheaper than the dealer. I know they sell a set of two for $206, but I don't know if they sell individually.
Here's an example from ebay for $85 shipped (#1 fob). It comes without the key, so if you've lost your fob, you'll need to look at others. Several are available. If you only need one, I'd try ebay.

Why do you need to replace a fob? Just curious.

My #1 FOB has stopped working. I've replaced the battery and it didn't help. If i use a screw driver and short the circles on the circuit board it works but it won't work when I put it back together and use the buttons. I'm assuming that the back if the buttons have carbon or some conductor impregnated in the silicone and has quit working.

I have an almost identical FOB from a Cadillac and I'm wondering if it can be re-programmed for the Vette?

The insides aren't interchangeable. The Cadillac fob has the battery attached to the circuit board and the Corvette FOB has the battery in the back case cover

First time I've ever heard of a fob stopped working. I guess it could happen. Make sure you are putting the battery in right side up. Good luck.

Does the fob still work when you stick it in the glove box slot, buttons to the right?

I stopped by the Chevy dealer and they put the Fob in their checker and they said it was bad. They didn't know if the Cadillac FOB would program to the Corvette. They said all we can do is try it and see. They charge $135 to re-program a FOB so I told them I'd have to think about that. They said I would still have to pay the $135 even if it didn't work. They want $300 for a new FOB and programming. I guess that's the Corvette tax.

Ebay seems to be the cheapest place to get them.
