I know the feeling. But I realized I could not take the stress every time I shifted and finally bit the bullet. Since I do cross country drives it had to be done. Now I need to do the lock pawl deal. Tried it once but had an "issue". Will try again later. It has never given me a problem in the past(I'm screwed now)!

Yes sir....Murphys gonna get ya. Take at look at that one thread/post (can't remember which one)...but the owner had connected a small cable wire to the pawl and ran it into his console so he could give it a tug if the pawl ever decided not to cooperate. Unless i'm missing something it seemed like a nifty idea.....

I did nothing about mine also. It broke at the gas station last month with 184,000 miles. It has a new cable now...hope it last just as long.

Well heck way....sounds like you got your $$$ worth out of yours. Mines only got 27-K on it. If I get 1/2 of what you got then i'm good to go for another 20 years or so....LOL. NAH....me ain't that stupid. Wonder just how many of these cables have such a short life....and how many actually last a while ? Maybe a good pole question for a thread......
