Default Airbag light

Had the vette out this weekend, airbag light comes on intermittently, might stay on for a minute and always goes out. It's an 07, I'm the original owner - bags have never deployed.
is this something i need to deal with?

Move the seat forward and back while looking at airbag light. If it goes on and off, then it is yellow airbag connector under the seat that is dragging on the carpet. Common problem, there is a recall and the dealer will fix it for free.

I also zip tied mine (yellow airbag connector under driver seat) closed for free--no more issues over 3.5 years. That was the day I joined Corvette Forum lol! Came across this answer when google searching the issue. Like Rich said; I did also receive a letter from GM finally this year saying dealer will fix this common issue for free.

+1 on the under seat connector (usually driver) as the passenger seat typically isn't moved as much.

Especially if you have the memory seat function that moves it back and forth all the time.

Just zip-tie it. the dealers were "fixing" it by cutting the connectors off and soldering them together

Huh!.That's crazy!!.The parts kit that the dealer had when i took my in was Zip Ties and 2 clamps. My yellow connector was not dragging on the carpet on my 08 either. The tech ziped tied the wiring from the 2 connectors to the bottom of the seat.Short story. That so called fix DID not work,i still get the light, but i no longer worry about it.

Yes, I would and did get it fixed. Mine was a long time ago and dealer fixed connector in the side air bag rather than under the seat. Same symptoms of intermittent connection. If the connection comes open due to the force of a collision, the air bag will not deploy. The computer is fast enough to stop deployment when it detects the error. On the other hand, airbags do very little to protect you if you are wearing a seat belt and they often cause permanent ear damage to everyone inside when they go off.

Bottom line it is most likely a improperly seated connector pin but there are several connectors involved. And it could be in either seat or it could be in one of the sensors etc. Under seat connector is common but not guaranteed to be the issue.
