Some have converted over to the A6 shifter, either the **** or the whole unit.
Here is one with just the **** part replaced, it's alittle tall though IMO.

There is/was? a kit that lets you use a manual **** on it but the pics from that thread are gone, not sure if it is still available or not.

Also the steering wheel can be replaced with a later year if you want to do that. Need steering wheel, airbag , and clock spring for that though.
