Ok, fellow members. I would like your opinion. I'm 70 years young and this quiet exhaust on my 2005 C6 is killing me. Should I do the muffler delete or drill holes and modify the mufflers. Spending hundreds of dollars on new mufflers is just not an option.
If you want a lot of noise, try the BB Bullets, but the highway drone drove me crazy. I went back to the factory NPP exhaust. I love it. Noise when the baffles are open and if you want it quiet, it turns them so they're closed.

I do believe the OP said he did not want to spend a lot of money, so these seem to not answer his request.
I am with you on the stock system. I wanted to hear the exhaust. It is not a Toyota. I went the expensive route but I also considered the drilling process on the stock mufflers. I assume you read through the long thread on the process? Give that a try, before going to the delete option would be my advice.

Mod the stock mufflers. Simple if you have a lift, however can be done with Ramp. You can start with a 5/8" hole and try to see if loud enough then go larger by 1/8" steps to increase the noise.
I have been at 3/4" for 4 years and am able to now hear the engine at idle and not too loud at speed.
I did the muffler mod on the 07 coupe I owned and it sounded decent. I drilled a 1" hole and would have gone a little smaller if I had it to do over again due to a small amount of drone between maybe 1600-1800 rpm. It wasn't enough to be annoying but I prefer no drone.
I had a local muffler shop remove my stock mufflers, cut off the stock tips, bent pipe and welded my tips back on my 08 coupe. 65$! Best and least expensive mod I've ever done. I've taken the car on several trips on the interstate and don't have a problem with drone. At 55 you can hold a conversation at normal levels and honestly, I done hear any drone. Just my .02 cents.
Thanks for all the input guys! I just got back from test drive after drilling 1" holes through the inner pipe. Not bad at all, sounds a lot better if I leave the 1 1/4" hole open in the outer skin of muffler. Was able to do it with car on the ground. Very, very easy to do, even for a 70 year old. Will live with this for awhile before I decide on muffler delete
