You can bet on some responses that you don't know how to drive and they do if CAGS is a problem. Ignore them, and just buy the CAGS bypass plug and connect it into your transmission plug per instructions and don't worry about it again. The blown smart fuse option didn't work for me (and others). I tried 3 separate fuses and always got the engine light. Bought the plug for the transmission for $9.99 shipped off ebay and no trouble since.
Had my Vette exactly 1 week and installed a skip shift eliminator, voila no more pita 1-4 shifts. Had this in a SS Camaro for a few years, no problems works great.
You don't need a video, the instructions have pictures, takes 5 minutes to install. But if you GOOGLE "youtube cags bypass install Corvette" you'll get dozens.
...or keep it in first gear for an extra couple hundred rpm or push the gas pedal down further.
Frankly, 2nd gear is so short just jump to 3rd after reving the extra couple hundred rpm. The transmission in the GS is optimized for auto-x. That's why 2nd is nearly useless on the street.
...and to another posters point, CAGS was a way to Not have to pay the gas guzzler tax. Started in '89 with the C4.
HP Tuners used here. I've tuned it out of all my cars.
I find the skip shift kinda dangerous to be honest. I had it trigger on me during a red light right turn up a hill. It wouldn't have been so bad except there was a car which was signalling to turn right instead decided to go through the intersection instead. I would have been at fault in this one, but at the time I thought I'll just floor it. The hill kept the speed in the skip range and I didn't give it enough throttle so I was locked out of 2nd and had to downshift 1st and floor it in 1st instead barely avoiding the collision.
Disable this thing ASAP before some **** happens because of it.
