Default 05 not starting

I was hoping to get some insight from somebody on the forum. The cars a 05 and simply hitting the ignition button to start the car is starting everything except the engine. All the lights and dash turn on. After toggling to accessory mode and back off several times eventually the car will start. Its a problem that's been getting worse to where the thing will only start after many tries. Any insight as to what this might be? When the car does start it starts fine. Is it the starter or something before the starter? Currently having a shop look at it, but not sure they will figure this out.

Car battery is the first choice of what the problem is.

I'd start by having the battery tested at a local auto parts store.

Starter solenoids have been know to give connectivity issues. This one here is a real problem.
Check battery cabling also, and not a bad idea to have the battery load tested.

Either weak battery or corrosion on the batter terminals would be my guess.

I'm sure its not the battery as I have had battery problems for years with this car and know the symptoms. Is the starter solenoid a part of the starter or before the starter?

It's part of the starter.

Um, unless you have had a C6 (with all the electronics) I would suggest you don't know the symptoms. Just saying.
Is you car auto or manual? Do you have headers?

If it's a 6 speed manual my guess would be a bad steering column lock, or a bad / cracked starter solenoid.. WW
