I own a 2013 GS 60th convertible. Mileage is 9404. It failed inspection for a U0073 bus communication failure. My question is this... Is this covered under the emissions warranty even though the power train warranty expired in 2016. Hopefully some one from Chevrolet can help me with this. It's rather embarrassing to drive an eighty thousand dollar car with a rejection sticker here in Mass.
Reading the EPA website, the answer is maybe. The emissions warranty is typically for the cats, and other parts specific to the emissions system. The policy is often explicit regarding description.
Seems like you should be experiencing other issues with that error as well.
Btw...could be the battery heading south.
At any rate...bump for ya

I don't think you will be covered under emissions warranty, GM has a TSB that includes your dtc which references wire chaffing and an incorrectly seated trans wiring harness. Might clear the code and perform a drive cycle to reset the drive cycle parameters and re-test. Sometimes a low battery will cause numerous dtcs to set.
As others have said, a load test of your battery would be a good starting point.
Also, there have been issues with loose or dirty connections of the big blue hardness connectors shown here on the BCM unit, located behind the carpet on the passenger side footwell.
Thank you all. I have contacted the dealer prior to posting this and the results were what I expected. They don't know until they get into it. The battery is less than a year installed. I have a fully equipped shop and a Tech 2 scanner. I will diagnose the problem and look for a related tsb. It's just frustrating as I have several other C6 corvettes and none have ever had any issues other than recalls...

Just a FYI for all that the "U-codes" as DTC's almost always are related to an electrical loss of power concern, and typically are NOT related to any DTC's for the Emissions System.
The connectors referred to in the TSB would be a very good starting point, now that the OP has confirmed the battery is good.
I will do so as soon as shop time permits... FYI, after I clear the code using the Tech 2 it will not come back on until the state inspection equipment is plugged into the OBD diagnostic port and attempts to read the PCM/BCM for any codes related to state inspection.
Then the light show begins and the idle varies and all kinds of messages appear on the dic but only a U007 appears on the scanner when it can read it. Drivability is not affected and all sub systems function and operate as designed including the paddle shifters...after the probe is disconnected.
