Default Off roading










Hi Peeps !! Last weekend I spent big bucks detailing the Vette and yesterday and today heading to work we were diverted from the road to a levee road because of wild fires close to the plant. Not a good idea off-roading on a Vette. Sold my Jeep too soon.

As I drive (15-20 mph) I can hear all the rocks, pebbles scrapping the bottom and my butt just puckers-up, while the cars behind me beeping the horn for me to go faster. My respond, a "friendly" finger

Got caught having to drive my car out on the gravel this weekend too. I was crying the whole way, my friends behind me weren't too amused either

I live on .4 miles of gravel, 2nd gear at idle. That's about 6-7 mph. I wonder how many Vette owners live on a gravel road?

I wanted to take the Apache Trail from Lake Roosevelt to Apache Junction, east of Phoenix, and when I arrived there, I found out it was 40+ miles of 1 1/2 lane gravel road. So I took the road, very scenic territory, and the vette was fine after I washed it.

Yes, Vettes can survive gravel roads.

Here in Texas, I live on a county road. 2.5 miles of gravel. I drive about 20mph and try to miss the big rocks. Not really a problem.

As long as there isn't a clearance issue, I have no fear. The rewards have always outweighed the risks.

The summit at Pike's Peak before they paved the last 6 miles. Cleaned up fine the same day.

I have a gravel 100 yd. drive then a 1/8 mile run @ 7mph max on dirt. Then off to the races. Don't sweat it.
