Looked at a C6 today, have a few questions (body/bumper and general value)
Forgive me I'm not familiar with package details, but:
2007 coupe, 6MT, 60k mi, black w/ heated leather, HUD, polished wheels... Original tires (displaying mild to moderate dry rot) but all have even tread wear. Three owners. Paint decent (8/10), mechanical I noticed no issues, interior great, clean CarFax. Dealership is asking $23,500 for it.
My only concerns are with the front bumper. The "snaps" I guess is what they are, they don't snap into place on the fenders/hood in the two corners. Is this something that happens? Is this indicative of a low speed accident? I checked the car out pretty well and didn't see anything. The plastic piece above the airbox rattles (and I think that's what the bumper attaches to). It also needs new hood struts, which are probably what $50-75/ea?
Can someone tell me what kind of issue that bumper thing is, and how easily it could be fixed (with or without a body shop getting involved). And, what would you offer on this car keeping in mind it's not "perfect" and needs a grand for tires? I was considering a good idea would be telling them I'd pay their asking price if they covered tax/title/etc and use the minor imperfections as leverage-- even though they're probably priced for it already.
Do you see this? It's what I'm talking about:
I love you all

The bumper is not a big deal. A two-part plastic snap is all it takes. Common problem. Under $10.00 and maybe an hour tops of your time. There are threads on here showing this east DIY

Tires are not original but from the tread pattern look to be replacement Michelins. 2007s came with Goodyears and they wouldn't last 60K miles.
Since both sides of the bumper cover are lifting, that is an indication the bumper cover was tampered with and maybe even removed. If this is at a Chevy dealer, have them fix it as part of the deal. Maybe even if not a Chevy dealer, if the previous post states its a simple job let it be simple for them!

attached here is a file on how to remove the front fascia......... the clips to retain it near the headlights are fairly low coast as mentioned, and the removal and re-installation can be done by one person in a few hours............. you may consider having them repair and paint the scuffs on the lower fascia and re-install it properly and then it would be worth their asking price with taxes and plates included.........
a lot of Corvette's for sale, some fairly priced according to the current market, so make sure it is what you want vehicle wise, at the price you want to pay..................

From the head on shot it looks like the gaps of the hod/fender are tight on one side wide on the other which is indication of frame damage looks like the front bumper has been over a curb....price seems steep for an 07 Base although it is a 3LT.....also appears to have a LOT of overspray on the paint.....for the money they are asking I would want new tires and a professional paint correction done or at least $4k off the price....I would hold out for an 08 with the LS3....

The car has not been in any CarFax reported accident, and the paint on the bumper looks to match OEM. I cannot be certain on that part, but I don't think a damaged vehicle would be paid for out of pocket rather than an insurance claim (let alone without a police claim reported) on the carfax. But I do appreciate the insight!!

Good looking car. The bumper is definitely original judging by how badly faded the emblem is. I would offer paying what they are asking, but I would ask for new tires. I would stick with the same model Michelin's that are on the car now. They seem to rate better than the Goodyear F1's. The rest is easy and you can do on your own. Part of the fun of owning a Corvette! Good luck! Let us know what happens.

I think it is a pretty good bet that the bumper cover has been removed, but the question is why ? I would think about having an independent inspection done, checking very closely for front end damage. If everything checks out and they are willing to put new tires on I say go for it.

looks like the bumper has definitely seen a few hits, I would think for the price asked, the bumper issue should be resolved, new set of tires and snag it for that price OTD

FYI, those tabs broke on my 2007 and the bumper has never been removed and the car has never been hit. They are cheap plastic and they do break. You have the same two broken as I did and many others here. It is only two tabs. You do not have to remove the bumper to replace them. Loosen the fenders and pop them in. Less than an hour. Most of these guys who are assuming the car was in an accident will have to replace the same two pieces on their cars some day.

I would pass on this car.
Too many red flags. Not necessarily frame damage, but front end damage, for sure, none the less. It doesn't take much to put the body panel out of alignment.
I say this as someone who has over a half-dozen whacks to my C6s. Some significant ( over ($10, 000), Some not as bad, $400. All done in parking lots.

The broken tabs are no indication of any accident, they break on a lot of C6's and is a very common documented problem with a lot of threads and solutions posted. Mine have broken twice. I just keep a bag of the clips in the garage.
they are cheap.
I would definitely get new tires, I don't think the price is that far out of whack
People on here want to pay nothing for a car, but when it comes time to sell theirs, they want the moon.

Burning Brakes
I doubt the car has been in a collision or that the front bumper cover has been removed. My car has the same issue, those little clips are broken and need to be replaced. My guess is that it happened when the original owner scraped the bottom of the bumper cover, the car is low, it can happen.
NOW, with that said, look under the car at the lower radiator support. Make sure this isn't broken as well. The "fangs" can appear fine but you need to look under the car to make sure it is intact all the way up at each of the 4 bolt points. ($300 part if broken badly)
Also check the harmonic balancer/crank pulley, make sure it doesn't look drunk and spins straight. If it wobbles a lot it will need to be replaced soon. You're looking at ~$1,000 in parts and labor.
You need new tires ASAP. See if the dealer will replace them or at least give you some cash in hand for part of the cost.

Someone just posted that he just bought a silver 07 with Z51, 3LT, M6 with only 12,500 miles for $25,000, I would keep looking, I also found a mint 07 identical to this one for $29,000.
Just a thought...
Good luck with whatever you choose, because you are the one making the purchase.

Lots of good advice here. When I bought tires it was $1,700 for the whole package including mounting, and balancing. I bought Michelins and was happy with them. Others will say they can get them cheaper but I checked with tirerack and that was the best I could do at the time.
The only thing that bugs me about this is the scrapes under the front bumper. However, it's really easy to do that if you aren't paying attention to the parking curbs.
Harmonic balancer, as others have said can also be a challenge but it's easy to see if it's wobbling.
If the dealer will put the new tires on, I think the price is ok. If the dealer will do tires and fix the clips, even better but I think I might want to tackle that myself to avoid any additional hammer-head damage from a non caring body guy.
Good luck in whatever decision you make and please keep us posted.
