Need advice on squeaking C6
- The squeaking sounds like a body squeak, but sounds like it's coming from the front.
- The squeak doesn't occur when the car is sitting still, at idle or revved
- The squeak doesn't seem to increase or decrease with speed changes
- I had the car parked and I pushed down on the hood and front fenders and didn't hear squeaking
- I thought maybe the harmonic balancer was bad, but it seems to be fine
- I tried removing the roof panel and driving without it, and it still squeaks. Still sounds down low.
- I can't tell if it's in the front or back, but I think it's in front.
I took the car on a long weekend fast drive in the north Georgia mountains, drove back to Orlando and didn't have a problem. It started a few days later. I attached an audio file of the squeak.
Thanks for any advice you can share!

I wonder if the squeaking could be coming from the removable roof panel of your coupe? I got some noises (popping, crackling, squeaking) with mine (2007 base coupe) until I removed the panel and applied silicone grease to the mating surfaces of weather stripping on the panel and the main part of the car's roof support surfaces. The noises went away. There is also a fix for the noise(s) https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ng+sounds+roof as described in this link, as I remember. Anyway, try this and see if it helps.

On a lift these can be observed, moved w/ a pry bar, checked for play.
If one's the culprit, maybe a drop of silicon lube would quiet it down?
G/L, updates always appreciated.

Chassis needs to be supported, not wheels. If you can get that using stands, try it.
Using a bar movement can be induced, idea is to simulate road chassis movement over rough road conditions. Tie rods, for example.
Get leverage w/ bar, move chassis component using an up-down/side-to-side motion depending on joint angle.
Listen closely because true road forces can't be duplicated like actual operation, and all you're looking for is/are dry grommets.
Axle nuts, end links can be the source of clunking also, so be sure to check those 2 items, make sure they're tight.
BTW while checking chassis, noise or not, any movement whatsoever is bad since every point requiring grommets is to be solid & tight.
They do wear out, dry out & get sloppy.
If you're 'in touch' w/ your Corvette noticed any diminished handling characteristics? Quite noticeable, the 'on a rail' feel's gone.
You're welcome! As for noises with the top stowed in the hatch area - - no noises (as of yet)!
