If you have no problems in DC area traffic you will do just fine in Florida.
I have lived both places and the days are about the same temp but it never cools off at night in Florida. The keys may be cooler than DC in the daytime.

I find that the stop/go/accordion traffic is hard on my transmission, but not the cooling system.
